This event is no longer on sale.

Friday April 6

11:00 AM  –  1:00 PM

Craft can make a difference!  Help support the efforts of Open Arms of Minnesota – a Minneapolis based nonprofit that creates meals for people living with life-threatening illnesses.  The Bowls for Open Arms Soup Social features a bowl of housemade FIKA soup, bread, beverage, and a handcrafted ceramic bowl made by St. Kate’s Empty Bowl Project!  More than 101 bowls will be available.  Advanced registration encouraged.

Want to create a bowl for the event?  A St. Kate’s Empty Bowl ‘Making’ Project will take place at the ASI on Saturday, March 10 from 11a-1pm.  Roll up your sleeves and experience the intersection of creative arts and social justice.  No previous bowl making experience?  No problem.  Volunteers will be on hand to make sure your bowl making adventure is enjoyable and successful!  No registration or fees required.  Drop-in anytime from 11am-1pm.

Bowls For Open Arms is an exhibition project now on view (through April 9) at ASI that was co-presented by regional craft organizations advocating for the advancement of the handmade -  The American Swedish Institute, FOCI Center For Glass Arts, Northern Clay and American Woodturners Association.  Craft ambassadors from each organization present a selection of handmade bowls available for purchase, with proceeds going to Open Arms of Minnesota, a nonprofit that cooks and delivers free, nutritious meals to people living with life-threatening illnesses in the Twin Cities.
