Introduction to SAORI Weaving Workshop

SAORI weaving originated in Japan and is taking the textile world by storm. This method of contemporary hand weaving is practiced in more than 40 countries and is a meditative craft and an excellent medium for self-expression. Choose colors and textures and weave on SAORI looms that are ready for you to start weaving. Take home whatever your creations from the workshop. Perfect for beginners!

Instructor: Chiaki O’Brien is a certified SAORI Weaving instructor. She had no formal training or background in fashion, textiles or art. Through SAORI Weaving, she found that to be an advantage. SAORI has taught her that it doesn't matter, as long as she is enjoying creating. She has been weaving and creating since 1996 and adding other fiber arts. O’Brien loves sharing her passion with people young and old and learning from them as well. O’Brien taught a sold-out SAORI course at ASI’s Great Makers Exchange in July and has also been a vendor at ASI’s Julmarknad.

$20 materials fee is payable to the instructor.
